District 64 to Test Chromebooks in Classrooms

The district will spend $189,630 on the machines, the Journal & Topics reports.

The school board voted this week to purchase 675 of the laptops to be tested out next school year, the newspaper reports. Each school will get 2-3 classroom sets of the Google Chrome browser-based machines. If they are proven to be a good resource in schools, the district may consider purchasing one for each student in grades 3-8.

Maine Township High School District 207 introduced Chomebooks in classrooms this year.
