District 71 Spending Expected to Exceed Revenues

Revenues are down in the district, forcing school officials to tap into reserves, the Journal & Topics reports.

Board members were expected to approve the budget of $9.2 million on Tuesday, which is $400,000 more than anticipated revenues, the newspaper reports. Superintendent Amy Kruppe told the newspaper the shortage was due to residents appealing their property taxes. She expects that District 71 can draw on reserves of about $400,000 depending on enrollment.
