ADULT ENRICHMENT COURSE AT RESURRECTION

Resurrection College Prep High School is offering an Adult Enrichment Humanities course entitled Hitler’s Germany and the Chicago ConnectionCourse participants will read Erik Larson’s new historic narrative “In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin.”  The author of “Devil in the White City,” Larson takes readers into Germany and the world as it was in 1933 while following the life of Professor William E. Dodd from Chicago.  Dodd goes to Berlin, along with his family, as America’s first ambassador to Hitler’s Germany.  The reader has the opportunity to watch history unfold in this engrossing narrative.

Participants will also read “The Book Thief,” a historical novel by Markus Zusak and will study sections of William Shirer’s “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.” The course will be taught by Resurrection faculty member Mr. Mike Longo, who holds a master’s degree in Music and Humanities from DePaul University.
