Debating the U.S. Constitution

Joseph Harrington of Morton Grove is leading a six-session seminar, "Debating the Constitution: The Federalist Papers and anti-Federalist Essays." The sessions run 5:45-7:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 15-March 22, at the Newberry Library, 60 W. Walton St., Chicago.

Spurred by a heated political climate, many Americans today are debating  the meaning of the U.S. Constitution. Seminar participants will become involved in the original debate by reading and discussing essays  from 1787 and 1788  that favored and criticized the  document. The Constitution was drafted in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787.
