District 64 Program Bolsters Parents’ Skills to Keep Children Tech-Safe

Because children of ever-younger ages are accessing the Internet through many different sources at home and on the go, keeping children safe is a growing concern.  To help parents supervise children effectively when using computers, cellphones and other mobile devices, Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 is sponsoring a “Surfin’ Safety” parent program on Thursday, April 7.  Cyber-bullying, junior identity theft and sexual predators are among the topics to be covered.  Sergeant Robert Tornabene of the Niles Police Department will share his years of experience and a wealth of practical knowledge with parents during the 90-minute session at 7:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room at Emerson Middle School, 8101 N. Cumberland, Niles.  The free event is open to the public as part of April’s Healthy Living Month activities in Park Ridge.
