East Maine School District 63 board meeting

The East Maine School District 63 Financial Taskforce will be holding a community meeting to gather community input on funding and priorities that will provide financial stability for East Maine School District 63 for at least the next 6-10 years.  The current economic climate, coupled with instability in State of Illinois funding and ever increasing costs have resulted in District 63 entering a phase of unbalanced budgets and deficit spending.  While the District was able to avoid staff layoffs and program cuts for the 2010-11 school year, deficits are projected to grow and are not sustainable for the future.  A Financial Taskforce has been chartered to bring the Board of Education recommendations by early Spring 2011 that can provide financial stability to the District for at least the next six to ten years, and as part of the Taskforce's work, the public is invited to participate in a community-wide meeting.  The results of this meeting will be used by the Financial Taskforce as the recommendations for the Board of Education are developed. The meeting will be held from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on November 1, 2010 in the Multi-Purpose Room at Gemini Junior High School, 8955 Greenwood Av., Niles, IL 60714.
