Parent and Family Guidance Series

Families often face challenges in the home that can disrupt the family harmony.  Some challenges may be daily struggles, such as schedule conflicts, arguments, school-related difficulties, incomplete chores, and/or endless videogame playing.  Other challenges may be more significant, such as divorce, loss of a family member, or moving to a new home.  Sometimes families develop unhealthy patterns of behavior as a result of these difficulties.  The Parent and Family Guidance Series improves family relationships by providing behavior-changing techniques to caregivers that foster responsibility and mutual respect within the home.  Topics include:  learning about natural and logical consequences, encouragement versus praise, discipline versus punishment, and understanding the goals of misbehavior.

This series encourages skill-development necessary for family success, and provides support for parents.  This series utilizes the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) model, as well as concepts from Dr. Ross Greene’s The Explosive Child.
