Got Money? Apply For Chamber Scholarship

The Niles Chamber of Commerce will grant scholarships to graduating eighth-graders and high school seniors.

 

If you have a high school senior or an eighth-grader, your child is eligible to apply for scholarships awarded by the Niles Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Chamber's Dollars for Scholars Charter will award $1,000 each to four graduating eighth-graders, and $3,000 each to four graduating high school seniors.

In the past 10 years the program has awarded over $97,000 in scholarships to area students.

Applications were judged on service to the community and school, response to an essay, awards and honors, school transcripts, and letters of recommendation, according to the Chamber.

Applications are due in the Niles Chamber Offices by Friday, February 22, 2013 by 4:30 p.m.

Past recipients have been from schools such as:
Gemini Junior High School, Clarence E. Culver School, St. Juliana, St.John Brebeuf, Maine West High School, Niles North High School, Niles West High School, Notre Dame College Prep, St. Mary of the Woods, Resurrection High School, Maine East High School, Loyola Academy

Scholarships have also been granted to children of employees at: Ed Garvey & Co., St. Benedict Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Fifth Third Bank, Professional Eye Care Center, Niles Public Library, Golf Mill Shopping Center, Niles Family Fitness Center, Village of Niles, Bradford Group, Callero & Callero LLP, Shure Incorporated, W.W. Grainger, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Express Employment Professionals, Niles Fire Department, Niles Township, Niles Police Department, Sparkfactor and East Maine School District 63.

Buy a raffle ticket to support the scholarships

The Niles Chamber Dollars for Scholars chapter is offering its Eleventh Annual Spring Scholarship Raffle. Only 250 tickets will be sold, Tickets are $100 each. Buy 5 tickets and receive the 6th ticket free.  Drawing will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Niles Night of Roses – A Tribute to Home Grown Success Dinner at the White Eagle Banquets.  To Purchase Raffle Tickets: Click Here
