PHOTO GALLERY: Maine East Knows How To Put On An International Fest

Students pack the school's International Celebration and aren't shy about wearing ethnic dress.

You don't have to go far in the halls of Maine East High School to hear foreign languages spoken. Students arrive from countries around the world every year to attend the school.

Seventy-four percent of students speak a language other than English at home--and at the beginning of this school year, there were a whopping total of 52 languages, according to .

Students from Morton Grove, Niles, Glenview and Des Plaines attend the Maine Township District 207 school.

Hundreds of kids packed the school's gym Saturday afternoon for its International Celebration. They wore traditional dress from their home countries, served food like pancit, samosas and falafel and performed both traditional and modern dances from their home countries.
