Maine South Celebrates 50th Anniversary Year With Exhibit

Events celebrating the anniversary will take place throughout the school year.

By Pam DeFiglio

Remember when high school boys wore shirts and ties and girls wore modest wool skirts?

Well, neither do we, but Maine South High School has photographic evidence in an exhibit to commemorate its 50th anniversary.

The exhibit has photos of Maine South grad Hillary Rodham Clinton's visit to the school with her husband Bill; newspaper clippings throughout the decades, a letter jacket, even an old driver's ed terminal.

Someone with a sense of humor had opened a book of clippings to a 1970 article headlined "Maine South Hawks Defeat Glenbrook South Titans." Interestingly, Patch ran that same headline this weekend, when the Hawks bested the Titans in the Sept. 27, 2013 Homecoming game. History really does repeat itself.
