Meet Melzer School's New Teachers

The Morton Grove K-6 School in East Maine Elementary District 63 welcomes new teachers.

 

Principal Shawn Schleizer of in Morton Grove has provided photos and a short bio of each of the school's new teachers. They're making their debut at the school, which is in East Maine Elementary District 63.

Jennifer Frazzini comes to Melzer School having taught sixth grade for two years in a private school. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Northeastern Illinois University and a graduate degree in elementary education from Roosevelt University. She speaks polite Spanish and formerly worked in marketing and sales. While in college, she was an NCAA Division I swimmer and has also served as a youth coach. This year, she will be teaching 5/6 multiage at Melzer.

Elizabeth Lange will be teaching 3/4 multiage and taught drama at Hoffman School in District 34 for the past two years. She is a graduate of Illinois State University in Bloomington and will complete her graduate degree in reading education through Concordia University in the coming year, which will qualify her to be a certified reading specialist.

Jenny Mariano will be teaching 1/2 multiage at Melzer this year. Recently, she earned a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Teachers College at Columbia University in New York. As part of the program, she taught algebra to ninth grade students and also did a full semester of student teaching  in third grade. She also attended Boston College and student taught in both first and second grade in Massachusetts.

Tim Riordan attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He completed his student teaching in third grade in Genoa-Kingston School District 424 and fourth grade in School District U-46. He completed a long-term teaching assignment at Cooper Middle School in Buffalo Grove last year, teaching both Language Arts and Social Studies. Mr. Riordan will teach 3/4 multiage in 2012-2013.

Samantha Weiss will be teaching 5/6 multiage at Melzer this year. Most recently, Ms. Weiss taught mathematics, language arts, and social studies at Elm Place Middle School in Highland Park, Illinois. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
