Oakton Community College Receives High Online Transparency Rating

Oakton Community College received a passing grade for government transparency online from a recent Illinois Policy Institute audit, according to a Daily Herald analysis.

In its audit, the Illinois Policy Institute looked at access to contact information online as well as public meetings, public records, budgets, audits, expenditures, contracts, taxes and more, according to the Illinois Policy Institute website.

The Daily Herald analysis found of the 102 suburban governmentagencies in the audit, 70 had scores of 60 percent or below. Oakton Community College received a score of 82.  

The highest scoring government agencies on the list were Hanover Township, Kane County and Lombard who all scored 100 for transparency. The lowest on the list was the Barrington Park District with a score of 8.8 percent.
