Parent and Artist Organizes Auction for District 69

One woman takes art activism to a new level in the community.

When Pam Cofre heard about , and especially , at District 69 in Morton Grove and Skokie, the local parent started thinking about her own childhood.

"I remember how important art class was to me," said the portrait artist. "I knew we needed to do something to get people more involved."

So Cofre, who had previously never spent much time in PTA events, decided to help the way she knew best — through art.

"From the PTA's standpoint, Pam's auction is a wonderful idea," said Patty O’Malley’, PTA president. "The cuts made parents aware that everyone has to pitch in."
