Should the U.S. Expand Space Exploration? Niles West Debaters Will Hash It Out

The school is hosting a debate tournament this weekend.

On one hand, humans have always wanted to push the boundaries of space, the final frontier. And it could be good for the economy, provide jobs and develop science.

On the other hand, perhaps dollars could be better spent on stimulating the economy and developing jobs here on Earth. In addition, space spending could cause the U.S. to be perceived in other countries as fiscally irresponsible, leading to less investment.

Debaters will tackle this question at the Niles Township Invitational Debate Tournament this weekend at , according to TribLocal.

The debate team at Niles West won't participate, because it's the sponsor, but Niles West debaters will get to take on the topic later in the year.

Niles West didn't have a debate team for quite a few years, but it , and did very well. They won three tournaments and took second place in two others.
