Viewfinder: Kids Paint the Town with Art in Empty Storefronts

Organized by Janine Witko of the Morton Grove Economic Development Commission, the program features local art by seventh grade students.

See an empty storefront and think you see an eyesore? Look again, it might be a work of art. File through the photos of the storefront at 6101 Dempster St., which now has 12 pieces of art by students.

Thanks Janine, wonderful project. Why not open it up to all grades? Brilliant!

The green SOX banner was painted by my little brother, Bryan Liston, and I could not be more proud. Kudos to the EDC for such a simple idea that has made a wonderful difference to the appearance of our business district!

Sheila Pientka Great job Janine, glad to see you are so involved in Economic Development. I will have to take a ride to see the art first hand. Thanks

What a fantastic program to beautify, but also to beautiful the imaginations of 7th graders. I don't live in your area anymore, but as head of an art guild here, you sparked an idea. Nina Fournier Kimberling City, MO
