“While bicycle riding isn’t typically thought of as a winter sport, the ride is a great way to get some exercise, fresh air and most importantly to ensure all children have a wonderful holiday.  There’s nothing like a new toy to brighten a child’s holiday especially in these tough economic times when many families are struggling to make ends meet.” says Joe Reichert, owner of Amlings Cycle & Fitness.

The idea for the ride was started 9 years ago by Reichert and his partner Julie Keating.  Last year, there were 90 bicyclists with over 1,000 toys collected.

All are encouraged to join in this wonderful holiday event.  Registration and more information can be found at www.toyridechicago.com. There is no cost to participate in the ride other than bringing a new, unwrapped toy.  If you would like to help out, but do not wish to bicycle ride, please drop off a new, unwrapped toy at Amlings Cycle & Fitness located at 8140 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, IL before December 9, 2011.  For more information, contact Joe Reichert at 847-692-4240.
