NILES NORTH

Girls Basketball: Senior Mariyah Henley passed the 1,000-point mark for her career with a 25-point performance in Niles North’s 66-51 over Resurrection.

Alissa Hirsh was named to the all-tournament team in the Niles North Somebody’s Hero Thanksgiving Tournament. The senior guard had 22 points and dished out 11 assists in the win.

The Vikings (2-4) fell to New Trier 57-47 in a CSL crossover matchup on Nov. 29

Boys Basketball: Niles North lost its first game of the season in a 56-40 defeat to Waubonsie Valley in the Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Classic. Junior point guard Malachi Nix sprained his ankle during the game.

The Vikings defeated York, Wheaton North and Rolling Meadows to start the season at 3-0.

Niles North will rely heavily on Nix and Mychael Henley this season as the only players with big varsity experience returning from last year’s sectional championship team.

Girls Gymnastics: Niles North fell to New Trier 135.80 to 117 in the first dual meet of the year. The Vikings are putting out a relatively inexperienced lineup after seniors like Citlali Cuevas graduated from last year’s regional championship team.

Senior Brittany Ebeling (31.85) and junior Elana Rusnak (30.20) finished fourth and fifth in the all-around competition for Niles North.
