Viking Girls Gymnastics Take 3rd In State

And it's only the third year for the program, for girls ages 8 to 13. The program is based at Niles North High School.

In mid-April, the Viking Gymnastics Clubs Girls’ Team competed fabulously in the AAU State Meet in Loves Park, IL.

In addition to the many individual medals the girls received, their Level 5 competitors finished third place out of 18 teams and their Level 6 team took fourth place!

This is a great achievement, especially because Viking Gymnastics is such a new club; this is only their third year competing AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and their first year competing USAG (United States of America Gymnastics).

Viking Gymnastics Club is homed in the gymnastics gym at Niles North High School in Skokie.  The program was originally developed as a feeder team for the high school, but now has grown to over 250 gymnasts. It provides gymnastics classes and team workouts for the children of Niles, Morton Grove, Skokie, Evanston, and other neighboring areas.

The girls team which did so well in the state meet is comprised of girls ranging from age 8-13 years old (pre-high school). They practice anywhere from 5 to 13 hours per week.  The girls have worked very hard and are excited to compete in the national competition this June in Wisconsin Dells.
