Free Breakfast And Foreclosure Prevention Workshop Saturday

There are lots of good things this weekend--a holiday bake sale and boutique, a foreclosure prevention workshop, jazz concert, recycled fashion show, theater and free breakfast at a new doctors' office.

Here's "The Weekender," your report of fun things to do this weekend right here in the area.

  • We're hoping Rapunzel still has her long hair in this version, but who knows what liberties the writer of NBC's "Friends" television series, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, have taken with "Rapunzel." See it at Gorilla Tango theater on Lincoln in downtown Skokie. Friday at 6:30, Saturday at 2 and 6:30 and Sunday at 2.
  • This weekend is a good time to get stuff done around the house, because next weekend is The Weekend Before Thanksgiving, which plunges us into the holiday season.
  • Come to a Holiday Boutique and Bake Sale to benefit a non-profit which keeps kids away from drug and alcohol abuse in Maine Township (Niles, Morton Grove, Park Ridge, Des Plaines, part of Glenview). Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MBD Martial Arts, 1508 Miner in downtown Des Plaines.
  • The Trashy Fashion Show, in which creative designers make pretty awesome apparel from recycled materials, is put on by SWANCC, the Solid Waste Agency of Cook County, Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 at the Chicago Marriott Northwest in Hoffman Estates. Niles is a member community of SWANCC.
