The bottom line is that the decision, whether good or bad, is made by Ones self. That's life.... ForRead More some it's too big of a pill to swallow ( no pun Intended). If someone were to tell me to jump off the Golden Gate bridge because it's fun, then it is MY choice whether or not I do it, and if I choose to, then I must deal with the consequences... They may not be looking out for my best interests, but no one forced me to do it!!

TH, if it isn't these three "subhumans" there are 3,000 more to step into their place. LetRead More me ask you, did any of the kids you knew have someone tie them down and put a needle into their arm against their will? While your comment is well intentioned, it is highly misguided and very naive.
Channing Grant April 16, 2014 at 07:45 pm
Drug dealers don't force anyone to buy. It's the parents job to raise their kids. If the kids buyRead More then it's the kids fault. I hope the 3 kids get a fine and a few hours cleaning garbage from the streets. Lots of good weed on the North Shore. Plenty of grow rooms in Winnetka. I love the skunk and lime indica with purple and red hairs.

Remember this Benny G and all you other scum sucking Liberals out there. The police in these ghetto areas are chasing them down every night in an attempt to keep them from coming into your so called safe areas. Appreciate their sacrifices and don't give this white Fucktard the time of day. Hey Kenneth! Love teh comments... Who else would say fucktard on here?

@ knee jerk. Although the upper limit IQ for officers is 105, the target IQ is between 94-98. TheRead More average IQ of a U.S. citizen is 100. Whenever you are speaking to a police officer, you are most likely speaking to someone with an IQ considerably Lower than your own. Please remember to speak slowly, always try to limit the amount of syllables in each word to less than three, and try not to laugh... Cuz They get Really Paranoid. Must be the drugs.

Does anything happen in Darien anymore?! I never see any articles about anything happening inRead More Darien, the Lion's Club pancake breakfast, the armed robberies at the gas stations, the 75th St. construction, city council budget, anything Darien related! How can you call this the Darien Patch when there is nothing about Darien in. Every other town or city has a Patch site that has articles related to their town. We get lazy editors who just copy and paste from other news sites.
Kelly O' March 30, 2014 at 06:17 pm
You don't have a lot of crime in Darien. Thank your lucky stars.
Dennis Robaugh (Editor) March 30, 2014 at 11:13 pm
@Bambi: OMGPD is a feature that recounts some of the more unusual crime stories in the Chicago-areaRead More suburbs. It's appeared weekly in your Deerfield Patch for about 2 years. @Adam West: I will email you directly with more information about Darien Patch, one of the Patches in the region that has been without a full-time editor for the last year.

Actually, today (April 4th) she WAS fired. However, I find it a great example of ridiculous unionRead More rules that it took them this long to do so.
Tom RS. April 5, 2014 at 09:13 am
She will have cost all us taxpayers a lot of money when this is all done. Millions in lawsuits andRead More probably a million plus in repairs to the system. I could be wrong, but maybe a little more training and evaluation needs to be implemented before someone is turned loose at the controls...
Elizabeth Colvin March 26, 2014 at 09:34 pm

Ed60062 March 25, 2014 at 08:57 am
I say absolutely not. It presupposes that people will read the ads which creates another diversionRead More for drivers. Someone will be reading an ad and not see the next emergency vehicle, another vehicle, a pedestrian, etc. If on fire equipment, police equipment will be next. Then what happens when an ad sponsor commits a crime--will a cop be reluctant to arrest the person funding the department?
sklogw March 25, 2014 at 02:50 pm
How are people supposed to see the ads? Don't trucks usually have to drive fast to get to emergency?Read More I say go for it if the advertisers don't mind wasting money on ads that will probably not be seen. LOL

Arthur....the complaint about unions is that they defend employees such as her....she should haveRead More been fired the first time! She has people's lives in her hands....unions make it impossible to weed out bad employees...
Arthur Huff March 27, 2014 at 09:51 am
Deerfield, if it comes out that the union had a role in what happened in February being handled theRead More way it was then I'm right there with you. But we don't know that yet. All we know now is that the CTA handled it that way, we don't know why. For what it's worth, and I'm just pointing out facts for the sake of the discussion, in this crash and the one in New York it was a union official who told the press that the operator dozed off. Doesn't sound like they were trying to protect either of them, does it? In both of these cases they could just give us the standard "we are still trying to determine the cause blah blah blah" but in both cases they admitted right away that the driver was totally at fault. I'm not saying unions are perfect and don't obstruct weeding out bad employees, i.e teachers and tenure, but in this case we have no indication YET that it played a role.
Sue1 March 28, 2014 at 10:25 am
It would be interesting to get a copy of their contract. I would bet they have some sort ofRead More progressive discipline language in it, which would explain why she wasn't fired after the first incident.

WHY ON EARTH ARE PARENTS AND SCHOOL SYSTEMS STILL SO TRUSTING OF THESE BASTARDS? WHEN ARE WE GOINGRead More TO CHANGE THE RULES AND INSIST THAT STUDENTS AND MALE TEACHERS ARE NOT LEFT ALONE FOR ANY PERIOD OVER TWO MINUTES EXCEPT IN EXTREME EMERGENCY SITUATIONS? I HAVE SEEN MANY MALE TEACHERS ACT STUPIDLY TOWARD BOTH MALE AND FEMALE STUDENTS AND THE ADULTS PRESENT JUST LOOK AT EACH OTHER.....LIKE THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE HEADLINE. If I read another one of these on campus situation I am suggesting law suites against all the people who may have seen and or known of the possible threat to the student. Our schools are not just failing in education they are failing in safety of our children and the demonstration of good moral examples all around.

FOM: No, I don't think I am. I gave my opinion about the story. No one is talking about allRead More prisoners but if that is your question to me then yes, I believe that all people who commit crimes and are found guilty should pay for their stay in jail. They should pay restitution.
Deerfield Resident March 24, 2014 at 04:07 pm
I like any thing that makes life tougher for criminals....make them work to pay for theirRead More incarceration (love it!).....secondly, how much has this Country taken a step back when your health care program is called obamacare (no caps) embarrassing to say the least!
FaceOnMars March 24, 2014 at 06:05 pm
sklogw: while we weren't "talking about all prisoners" specifically, I don't think itRead More would be fair/just to apply conditions such as the requirement to pay for incarceration to one prisoner, but not all. As a general principle, I'd be kind of torn ... since it might only fuel the circumstances which might lead to greater recidivism and enable "Big Prison" industry to continue to incarcerate non-violent offenders at an alarming rate.
Carol March 11, 2014 at 07:42 am
Why is restitution so much less than all that was stolen? Besides the fine, their cars, home and allRead More belongings should be sold to pay back the stores. Slam the jail doors on these scammers!
