Action Party Kicks Off April Campaign in Morton Grove

They are gearing up for the April 2013 municipal election, when a mayor, clerk and trustees will be elected.

  On Thursday evening, five days before that "other" election, members of Morton Grove's Action party launched their campaign for the April 2013 municipal elections. About 40 people gathered at Tommy's Pub to hear the candidates get introduced, shake hands with them and pick up candidate petitions to circulate.  The party's candidates include Dan Staackmann for mayor; William Grear, Tony Kalogerakos and John Pietron for trustee and Ed Ramos for clerk.  Staackmann is the current mayor, Grear is currently a trustee and Kalogerakos is currently village clerk. As for opposition candidates, Larry Gomberg, a current trustee, has declared his intention to run for mayor.  Other candidates have until Dec. 24 to file their petitions.  Get Morton …

I hope more people will throw their hats into this election slate besides Larry Gomberg. He is a good man, but if he loses, we will be back to this one party rule of the Action Party. This party has been less than communicative about their dealings. Most of us find out about their arrangements after the deals have been made. Morton Grove Action Party Announces Slate

The party has chosen a slate of candidates running for mayor, village clerk and trustee positions in the April election.

    The Morton Grove Action Party has announced its slate of candidates for the April 2013 municipal election.  The following is a statement from the party. Five seats on Morton Grove’s Village Board will be on the ballot:  village president, village clerk, and three village trustee positions. The Action Party has slated Daniel J. Staackmann for the office of Village President. Staackmann is currently Mayor and served two terms as trustee on the village board.  He also served on the Morton Grove Park Board for 16 years.  In 2001, Staackmann was awarded the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ “Outstanding Board Member” award.  He has also served as board member, treasurer, and president for the Maine-Niles Special Recreation Association…

The caution note remains the same, however, as for any group of organized people - they have to work to stay innovative, transparent and inclusive.
