With more than 8,000 votes cast, see who took this week's honor as Athlete of the Week

After more than 8,000 votes were cast, Deerfield's Artie Bess was named Patch Athlete of the Week. Bess took third place in the 220-pound division at the Class 3A wrestling state championships last weekend. Bess beat Mt. Carmel junior David Denne 3-1 in the third-place match and finished the season with a record of 40-2. He garnered 5,079 votes, or 61 percent.  HONORABLE MENTION Lauren Kriz, senior, girl’s basketball, Loyola Academy – Kriz tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds in the Ramblers’ 46-31 win over Evanston in the Class 4A Evanston Regional finals.
