Gambling Spat Leads To Traffic Stop, DUI

A man was arguing with a female passenger about losing money at the casino. In another incident, a man drove 101 mph down Greenwood, was charged with DUI. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

  Nasanbat Batpurev, 39, of Chicago, was charged with DUI Dec. 19, just after 2:30 a.m., in the 7300 block of Harlem. Police were responding to a call of a battery in progress when they learned the offender had gotten into an SUV and was leaving a parking lot in that block, according to the report. Police stopped him, and they said he told them he had been having an argument with his female passenger, 30, about losing money at the casino. Police noticed an odor of alcohol on his breath, they said, and he told them he had drunk three glasses of wine. He showed impairment on field sobriety tests, according to the report. Was this mysterious casino the OTB in Golf Mlll? Sounds like it was. OTB revenue, and thus Niles portion is down about 50 percent since opening a few years back. Maybe Niles did not get such a good deal and speeding maniacs to boot.   more ›

Rivers Top Grossing Casino in State for 10 Months

Gaming expansion bill was passed by lawmakers; Gov. Quinn expected to veto it.

May was the 10th consecutive month Rivers Casino had higher adjusted gross receipts than any of the other nine casinos in Illinois, according to a monthly report from the Illinois Gaming Board released last week. Rivers took in $35,277,000 in adjusted gross receipts during May, according to the report. Since August 2011, Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road, has had more than $30 million in adjusted gross receipts every month, and May was the third largest grossing month since the casino opened in July 2011. The top-grossing month to date was February 2012, with $37,537,000, followed by April 2012 with $35,579,000 adjusted gross receipts.
