Will Sale of Jewel-Osco Affect Local Stores?

With four Jewel-Osco stores in Niles and others in Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Skokie, experts say the retail chain needs to be revamped.

  Retail experts say Jewel-Osco, which parent company Supervalu sold to a group led by Cerberus Capital Management, according to wgntv.com, may be sold again in a relatively short time period, Crain's Chicago Business reported.  Experts also said Jewel-Osco leadership will have to re-examine its pricing strategy to compete with Wal-Mart Inc. and other independent stores.
