Watch Your Local 2012 Olympic Athletes Live

Patch has compiled a full schedule for Jillian Schwartz, Christina Loukas, Matt Grevers and Conor Dwyer.

Four local athletes begin their quest for Olympic gold when the 2012 London Olympic Games start at 1:30 p.m. today (London Time) with the opening ceremonies. American swimmers Matt Grevers of Lake Forest and Conor Dwyer of Winnetka start racing Saturday while Deerfield High School graduate and Riverwoods native Christina Loukas will wait until August 3. Lake Forest High School graduate and Israeli team member, Jillian Schwartz, starts competing in the pole vault August 4. Though only some of their performances will be on national television, every jump, dive and swim can be seen live by computer streaming through Comcast or other Internet providers. Winnetka’s Conor Dwyer will be making his first Olympic appearance when he competes in men’s swimming at the London Olympics. The Loyola Academy graduate and Lake Forest Swim Club member will be competing in the 400 freestyle and will be part of the 800-relay team along with Charlie Houchin, Ryan Lochte, Matt McLean, Michael Phelps and Davis Tarwater. Dwyer will compete in the 400 freestyle preliminary heats Saturday at 10:50 a.m. London time or 4:50 a.m. Chicago team. The top eight swimmers from all the heats will move to the finals later Saturday at 7:49 p.m. in London or 1:49 p.m. here. Dwyer may also been seen as part of the 4x200 freestyle relay team. Olympics Bound: North Shore’s Conor Dwyer

The Loyola Academy graduate and Winnetka native placed 2nd in the 400-meter freestyle and 3rd in the 200-individual medley at the Olympic Trials in Omaha; he will represent the U.S. in London starting July 27.

North Shore native Conor Dwyer is headed to the Olympics, to represent the United States, and his hometown of Winnetka, in London later this month.  Dwyer, 23, a Loyola Academy graduate, took second place in the 400-meter freestyle event June 25 at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska.  That placement qualified him for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team, along with 47 others who vied for the coveted honor. “It was unbelievable after the 400; it was a lot of emotion and it was hard for me to put it into words, I’ve put so much work in over the last 11 months,” Dwyer said. “It was breathtaking.” Dwyer also placed third in the 200-meter individual medley (IM) and fourth in the 200-meter freestyle events during the 10-day trials that ended July …
