Golf D-67 To Ask Voters For Tax Increase Again

Voters approved $8 million for the Niles-Morton Grove school district Tuesday, but turned down a tax rate increase.

  Golf School District 67 in Niles and Morton Grove lost one of the referendum questions it had placed on Tuesday's ballot, and won the other.  Its school board president, Meryl Gale, said the district would come back in a future election and ask voters again to improve the tax rate increase, according to the Morton Grove Champion.  Earlier: D-67 wins one of two referendum questions Voters approved a $7.9 million bond referendum that will allow the district to make repairs and improvements to Golf Middle School and Hynes Elementary School. One Day After Election, D-67 Hires Architect

After one referendum question passed and one failed, the Niles-Morton Grove school district will not be able to restore the programs it cut; but it now has money to improve its buildings.

  Architect Leanne Meyer-Smith of Wight Architects was at Golf Middle School Wednesday, having just stepped out of a special meeting the District 67 school board called after Tuesday's election.
