Woman Charged With DUI Causes Accident

Police found the two cars in the middle of the street.

Virginia Kontopoulos, 50, of Glenview, was charged with DUI/alcohol on Oct. 16. Police responded to a crash near Harlem Ave. and Cleveland at about 11:45 p.m. and found two vehicles in the middle of the street with minor damage. Both drivers said they did not need to be seen by paramedics. Police talking to Kontopoulos observed signs of intoxication, and she showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests and later test showed a .113 blood alcohol level. She was issued citations for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, DUI and blood alcohol level over 0.08. Her court date is Nov. 29.
