The Niles Public Library hosted dance troupes of several different nationalities to celebrate their third annual International Fest.
The Niles Public Library held its third annual International Fest Saturday and Sunday, complete with dance performances, samples of international food, and henna demonstrations. Saturday's events included performances by the Qui Yue Jin Dancers & Flying Fairies (Chinese), the Miorita Dance Group (Romanian) and the Chicago Hula Dancers (Polynesian). Sunday saw displays by Renacer Boliviano (Bolivian), the Kalapadma Dance Academy (Indian) and Sol Azteca (Mexican). International cuisine was donated by local merchants including Kappy's, Unimart, Chipotle, Himalayan Restaurant and more. The library also set out research materials about the different cultures represented, should attendees wish to check them out and learn more.

Jovanka Lakic was putting the last touches on her Serbian folk dance outfit at the Niles Public Library on Sunday and getting ready to perform with the Sloboda Serbian Folk Group. As fellow troupe member Christine Krcadinac knotted a scarf under her chin, the African drumbeats of the Maine East Rhythm Project wafted out of the library's large meeting room, where the International Celebration Program was taking place. Along with Serbian and African cultural offerings, the Niles library program included Latin, Polish, Asian Indian, Irish and Israeli dances.
