State Rep. Rosemary Mulligan has served the 65th District for 18 years and this election season she looks to add another two-year term in Springfield to her resume. The district, which comprises portions of Des Plaines and 12 other townships and municipalities, is being contested by her Democratic opponent, Wendy Gruen. During her time as a representative, Mulligan has worked hard to push for reform in fields like health care and Medicaid. Michael McAuliffe, who is running unopposed in the Nov. 2 election, has represented the 20th district since 1996. The district includes part of Chicago's Northwest Side and a portion of Niles that starts near Pioneer Park at Touhy and Harlem and continues north on the east and west sides of Milwaukee Avenue as far north as Main St. (8400 north). McAuliffe is the son of the late Roger McAuliffe, who was also a state representative. The elder McAuliffe passed away in July 1996, and Michael McAuliffe was appointed to replace him.
