Maine South Plays Glenbard North Saturday

The football playoffs are getting more intense, with the Hawks facing off against the Carol Stream school.

  The undefeated Maine South Hawks (11-0-0-) football team will play the Glenbard North (10-1-0) Panthers Saturday in Class 8A quarterfinals at 1 p.m. in Carol Stream. The Hawks have had a great season, most recently beating Conant, of Hoffman Estates, in the second playoff game last Saturday. But the Chicago Tribune called Glenbard North the Hawks' "toughest challenge." Hawks reach 8A quarterfinals with 27-13 win

Maine South avoids falling in the second round for a second year in a row, and continues their undefeated trend into the class 8A quarterfinals by beating Conant Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

  After a dominating win against Lane Tech in the first round of IHSA playoffs, the Maine South Hawks looked to soar their way past the eighth seeded Conant and into the quarterfinals.  Their path did not come easily, as the Cougars held the Hawks scoreless until the second quarter, along with a few hiccups throughout the game.  Like Niles-Morton Grove Patch on Facebook for news, conversation At 4:49 in the first quarter a controversial fumble call set the tone for the rest of the game. Hawks quarterback Matt Alviti was tackled by Cougars Tim Manczko near the 15 yard line and was ruled a fumble. Maine South Plays Conant Saturday 1 P.M.

The high school football playoffs continue here at home in Park Ridge.

  After defeating Lane Tech last week in the playoffs, Maine South High School's football team advanced and will face Conant High School Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at Maine South, 1111 S. Dee Road, Park Ridge. Excitement is high, as Maine South has been the state champ in the Illinois High School Association's Class 8A three times in the past four seasons, according to espn.com.
