The class, Physics 102, will be the third class in a series that starts with biology and chemistry. The year-long class would be one-and-a-half periods long – as are most of the district’s science classes. It would be offered to regular-level students who had completed a full year of biology and a full year of chemistry. Administrators said the class would be structured so that topics are covered in the same sequence as the accelerated physics course, making it possible for students to move up or down a level without missing anything. Maine South's defense leads the Hawks past Wheaton Warrenville South 13-9.
When Maine South's schedule was released for the 2011-2012 season, high school football fans across the region were instantly attracted to the September 2 game against the Wheaton Warrenville South Tigers. Etched in everyone's memory was the Tigers' 44-7 pasting over the Hawks last year. To make matters worse, the game was on national television. Maine South would certainly respond by winning out and taking home its third consecutive class 8A state championship. However, that did not take away from the importance of this year's game, especially it being at home for Maine South. It was clear that the Hawks would not allow the Tigers' offense to dominate again. That defense led Maine South to a 13-9 victory in front of a packed Wilson Field …

Many parents nodded along with the movie “Race to Nowhere” at Maine South High School, while others chuckled as they likely recognized parts of their own child rearing experiences echoed by the documentary. Teenagers shown in the movie had overloaded AP classes on their schedule and couldn’t cope with getting a “bad” grade, even a B. A California AP biology teacher even noted that there’s no way for the class to get through everything in the curriculum, so they “go …
