Christopher Addante will leave the position at the end of the school year, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The Maine West High School Athletic Director will leave his post the end of the school year, the Chicago Tribune reports. Christopher Addante is leaving his position as athletic director, but will continue as a business education teacher. A lawsuit has been filed against Maine Township High School District 207 by a former physical education teacher, the Daily Herald reports. Jannon Kirley, former teacher at Maine West and South, is suing the district for employment discrimination, age discrimination, retaliation for exercising her First Amendment right to free speech, and for retaliatory discharge under the Illinois Whistleblower’s Act. The school district has responded, saying Kirley’s dismissal from the district “involved insubordinate, unprofessional conduct” toward District 207 staff and students, the newspaper reports.

Niles West High School boys basketball coach Bob Williams has achieved a milestone in his coaching career. Williams earned his 400th career win last week when Niles West beat Maine West 58-51 in the final regular season game of the season, CSL Insider reports. Williams, who has been the coach at Niles West for four seasons, was presented with the game ball after the game for his successes. He was formerly the coach at Schaumburg for 18 years.

A lawyer representing current and former students in the Maine West High School hazing case alleged that the school's principal knew about the abuse in 2008. Antonio Romanucci, of Romanucci & Blandin, said a letter sent to Maine West Principal Audrey Haugan in 2008 showed she knew about the abuse, and did not report it to District 207, as required by law. Ken Wallace, superintendent at D-207, said in November that the first reports the district received of bullying and hazing at the Des Plaines high school were in September 2012. Romanucci addressed the press outside the District 207 boardroom, where members were meeting in closed session about a variety of hazing-related issues.
