Morton Grove Mayor Dan Staackmann said he's looking for three residents to serve on a committee to investigate whether a waster transfer station or recycling center would pose threats to health and safety.
At a recent Morton Grove village board meeting, Mayor Dan Staackmann announced plans to create a fact-finding committee to evaluate whether a waste transfer or recycling station would impact the safety, property and/or health of residents. According to a statement prepared by the village office, Staackmann said if the committee finds a negative impact on the village, he will not endorse such a project nor will he allow any required municipal code changes. Staackmann has signed up three people on the committee and is looking for three more. The three already on board are Director of Public Works Andy DeMonte, Sanitarian Bonnie Burnett and Traffic and Safety Commissioner Lee Tamraz. The target date to report findings is July 31. "Mayor …
