Nine people got sick before boarding a plane to Copenhagen yesterday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ambulances were sent to O’Hare International Airport yesterday after nine people from a tour group got sick before boarding a plane to Copenhagen, the Chicago Tribune reports. One person was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, and six others were taken to Resurrection Medical Center in good condition. The cause is under investigation, the newspaper reports.

Delays at O'Hare International Airport average 91 minutes on Feb. 22.
The winter weather is causing delays at Chicago’s airports this morning. O’Hare International Airport has issued a Ground Delay Program affecting flights until 9:59 p.m. Feb. 22 due to snow and ice. Delays are reported as “excessive” by flightstats.com, with an average delay of 91 minutes. Delays aren’t as significant over at Midway International Airport. Flightstats.com is reporting delays are considered moderate at the airport with no active FAA issued delays.

Flights at O’Hare airport are being delayed an average of 129 minutes today. Weather is to blame for the delays, which are reported as “excessive” on flightstats.com. It’s a different story over at Midway Airport, where there are very few delays being reported as of 11:25 a.m.. There are not any current FAA issued delays at Midway, according to flightstats.com

While the East Coast girds for power outages and damage from Hurricane Sandy, officials at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport could be bracing for their own flood of issues. O'Hare has issued an airport emergency advisory and warned service will be limited due to severe weather in parts of the country. About 5,000 flights have already been canceled nationwide, with an unknown number connected to O'Hare. Thousands more were expected to be grounded Monday and Tuesday, according to Huffington Post. The Transportation Security Administration will phase out airport security scanners that showed detailed under-the-clothing images of travelers' bodies. Part of the reason is long lines.
Travelers who complained when the Transportation Security Administration introduced extremely revealing security scanners can now rest a little easier. TSA has announced that it will replace those scanners, called "backscatter" scanners, with a new type that can get travelers through security faster, according to UPI.com. The new machines, which emit less radiation, are operational in airports in busy air travel cities such as Chicago, New York, Boston and Orlando, USA Today reported. The old machines show a very detailed image of travelers' bodies, somewhat akin to a nude drawing, which critics have likened to a cyber strip search. There have been goats in the Park Ridge area before, but mostly in petting zoos and St. Andrew's Lutheran Church's Bethlehem Walk. Now, however, a herd, complete with goat herder, may be brought in nearby at O'Hare International Airport, where maintenance people have found it difficult to bring landscaping equipment into a hilly area, reports Fox News.
