Niles Candidates Hold Fundraiser Thursday

Four candidate running under the banner of the Responsible Leadership party greeted supporters at an event at the Lone Tree Manor.

  Chris Hanusiak, Jim Hynes, Mary Marusek and Louella Preston greeted supporters Thursday as the four held a fundraiser for their Responsible Leadership party. They are running as a slate in the Niles April 9 election, with Hanusiak as the candidate for mayor and the other three for village trustees. Responsible Leadership Party Holds Kickoff

Candidates for mayor, trustees introduced to attendees.

  The Responsible Leadership for Niles party candidates held a campaign kickoff event Weds., Dec. 19 to announce their candidacies in the April 9, 2013 municipal election. According to Niles Village Trustee Krzystof "Chris" Hanusiak, who is running for mayor on the new party's slate, he announced, “I became a trustee committed to the goal of bringing honesty, integrity and openness to village government. It is a big responsibility to undertake an even greater task and I am pleased to be joined by three experienced and dedicated individuals as trustee candidates. Candidates Start Filing Early

Monday began the first day for candidates to file for office, and at least eight stepped up to turn in their paperwork.

  In Niles, two full slates of candidates filed their petitions Monday, and at least two candidates filed in Maine Townships High School District 207. Earlier: Want to run for office? File papers from now to Dec. 26 The New Niles 2013 Party and the Responsible Leadership party, each with a candidate for mayor and three trustee candidates, filed their petitions Monday in Niles. In District 207, incumbent board member Eric Leys filed, along with Mary Childers, a former Des Plaines 1st Ward City Alderman who serves on the Park Ridge-based Center of Concern Advisory Board.
