Stylists 'Terrified' of Hair Salon Bandit

Two hair stylists in Skokie talk about security precautions - such as keeping their doors locked at all times - after the hair salon bandit robbed three area salons in a two-week span.

Despite the store being open, walk up to Hair Cuttery in Village Crossing and expect the doors to be locked. It's a security precaution the employees have taken since the hair salon bandit has robbed three area salons - two in Skokie, one in Niles - in two weeks. "We started locking our doors on Monday," said Hair Cuttery stylist Dyana Kheyo, 22. "We're terrified. Our customers are terrified. They know what's been going on. It's been all over the news." While the door was locked, both employees opened it with a smile after realizing this reporter wasn't there to rob them. "It's just a precaution," said stylist Molly Kobylt, 24. "We know he uses a gun. We know he's robbed eight salons already. Yeah, he hasn't been violent, but who's to say …

Hair Salon Bandit Strikes Again, Robs at Gunpoint

Skokie has seen two armed robberies targeting hair salons over the last two weeks. Police believe the same man is responsible for about a dozen similar crimes that took place in Niles, Morton Grove and several other areas.

Two Skokie hair salons have been robbed at gunpoint in two weeks, and police believe one man is responsible for both crimes, they announced today. Officers responded to an armed robbery call at Supercuts, 3539 Dempster St., on Jan. 10 around 12:25 p.m. The suspect entered the hair salon, displayed a black revolver and demanded money, police said. The offender would soon flee in an unknown direction. It is unclear at this time how much money the man stole and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Police said the most recent hair salon employee identified the armed robber as the same man who held up Hair Cuttery in Fashion Square Shopping Mall, 9442 Skokie Blvd., on Dec. 27 (pictured above). Authorities also believe the …
