The Niles Chamber of Commerce will grant scholarships to graduating eighth-graders and high school seniors.
If you have a high school senior or an eighth-grader, your child is eligible to apply for scholarships awarded by the Niles Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Chamber's Dollars for Scholars Charter will award $1,000 each to four graduating eighth-graders, and $3,000 each to four graduating high school seniors. In the past 10 years the program has awarded over $97,000 in scholarships to area students. Applications were judged on service to the community and school, response to an essay, awards and honors, school transcripts, and letters of recommendation, according to the Chamber. In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, Coca-Cola and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) want to encourage college-age students to “Destapa su Futuro” or Uncap Their Future. Together, Coca-Cola will award more than $300,000 in scholarships to young Hispanic men and women.
