The team will take on Whitney Young at New Trier High School tomorrow at 5 p.m.
The Maine South Girls Soccer Team will take on Wilmette’s Loyola Academy tomorrow in the New Trier Sectional semi-finals game. Maine South beat Chicago’s Whitney Young High School in the regional finals to advance to the next level in the tournament. Tomorrow's game is set for 5 p.m. at New Trier High School. The winner head to the sectional championships on Friday, May 24. The Girls Soccer state finals are set for June 1 at North Central College in Naperville.

With six votes in the comments section, New Trier's Maddie Mulford won Athlete of the Week. Mulford scored the only goal in New Trier’s 1-0 victory over Jacobs in the Sweet 16 of the Pepsi Showdown on Thursday. Mulford received a pass from Rachel Shellenback and slipped it past the keeper off the right post for the game-winner early in the second half. HONORABLE MENTION April Cronin, junior, girls soccer, Glenbrook South – Cronin scored two of Glenbrook South’s four goals in a 4-0 victory over Oswego in the Pepsi Showdown. Niles North and Niles West had athletes honored on the all-conference football and soccer teams.
Football: After playing in a reserve role to Sam Sharples last season, RB Oshayne Brown emerged to become a big-time offensive force for Niles North in 2011. Brown was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the CSL North. In addition to Brown, Niles North DT Dan Fricano, LB Romeo Montrel, DT James Edmond and LB Juvane Spence made the all-conference team. Edmond, a sophomore, along with juniors Fricano and Spence will anchor the Vikings’ defense next year. Niles West’s Jeremiah Jordan and LB James Williams were both named to the CSL South All-Conference team. Both juniors will return to play for the Wolves next season. Girls Swimming: Sophomore Edan Scott took third in the 50-yard freestyle (24.29 seconds) and 100 free (53.64), the best…

Niles West beat Niles North 1-0 in the boys soccer regional semifinals.
NILES NORTH Volleyball: The Vikings rallied to beat Deerfield at home on Oct. 13 19-25, 25-20, 25-14. Andrea Lopez led the team with nine kills for the match while Taylor Louis chipped in with eight kills as well. Niles North got a big lift from Alethea Busch, who had four kills and a block in the decisive third game. Niles North also used a three-set rally to defeat Maine West 20-25, 25-11, 25-20 on Oct. 18. Lopez had 13 kills while Louis had 12 kills and two blocks. The Vikings improved to 21-13 on the season, including 7-2 in the Central Suburban League North and earned the No. 8 seed in the Class 4A Glenview Sectional.
