CSL Conference Rivals Duel in Sprint

Dave Eckhart of Maine South outruns Tommy King of New Trier to highlight cross-country meet at Niles West.

At the one-mile mark of Saturday's Central Suburban League (CSL) conference cross-country meet, something happened to Maine South's Dave Eckhart. It was something his coach, Greg Nordahl, has been waiting for. What happened is Eckhart just took over the race, and he went on to win the CSL boys varsity competition by 11 seconds over his conference rival, Tommy King of New Trier. All 12 Central Suburban League teams ran together in each age group, but the results were posted by division. Maine South is in the same division as New Trier, Niles West, Evanston, Waukegan and Glenbrook South.
