How to Watch Jillian Schwartz Vault in the 2012 Olympics

See Lake Forest High School graduate Jillian Schwartz's schedule and how to see her on TV.

Lake Forest’s Jillian Schwartz will be competing for the Israeli team in the 2012 London Olympics in track and field. Schwartz, who competed for the United States in the pole vault in 2004, will have her competition begin August 4, with the finals August 6. On August 4, Schwartz will compete in the preliminary round with competition beginning at 10:20 a.m. London time or 4:20 a.m. here. Schwartz will have a preliminary jump and then will attempt to successfully complete the next qualifying height. She will continue at each height, unless she misses three times at a height and then is eliminated. Should Schwartz be one of the top 12 competitors during the qualifying round, she will move into the finals on August 6 at 7 p.m. in London time …

The nominees for North Shore Patch Athlete of the Week, Feb. 27 – March 4: Lucas Nudelman, junior, boys track and field, Highland Park – Nudelman took first place in the 1600 in a dual meet against Glenbrook North and Northside Prep. The Highland Park junior was also highly involved with organizing the school’s 24-Hour Run, an annual charity event that has raised more than $100,000 in less than 10 years. Ethan Smith, senior, boys track and field, New Trier – Smith won the shot put event at the 46th Maine East Invitational with a throw of 48 feet-9 ½ inches. More than 8,000 votes were cast in last week's competition and Deerfield's Artie Bess was named Patch Athlete of the Week.  The nominees for Patch Athlete of the Week, Feb. 20 - Feb. 26: Kathleen Stralka, senior, girl’s basketball, Loyola Academy – Stralka scored a team-high 10 points in Loyola’s 31-26 win over Glenbrook South. The victory gave the Ramblers the Class 4A New Trier Sectional championship and Loyola advanced to play Wheeling in the Stevenson Super-Sectional. Danny Katz, senior, boys track, Deerfield – Katz won the long jump, triple jump and 55-meter intermediate hurdles at the Buffalo Grove quad last week. Niles North's Top 10 Sports Moments in 2010-2011

Basketball had a thrilling postseason run while track athletes dominated the sectional championships.

Here are Patch's Top 10 moments in Niles North athletics during the past school year. 10. Football Wins “Skokie Skirmish”: Niles North got its first victory of the year with a 24-15 win against rival Niles West. Fullback Myron Johnson ran for 143 yards on 16 carries, including a 73-yard touchdown scamper. In all, Johnson had three touchdowns on the day. 9. Dave Bacalla Has Winning Record at State Tennis Championships: The sophomore finished 4-2 in the singles division at the state championships. Bacalla lost in the third round after two wins in the main draw, but won two more matches in the consolation bracket. Baseball and softball ended their seasons with losses in the regional finals.

Niles West concluded its 2010-2011 athletic season this week. Here’s how the remaining spring sports played out. Boys Track and Field: Junior Lavelle Jordan earned all-state honors by placing sixth in the 100-meter run (10.92 seconds). Jordan did not compete in the 200, his other event. Niles West’s only other individual athlete competing at the state championships was junior Neal Omar, who was just .46 seconds off from qualifying for the finals of the 800. Omar ran 1:55.67, just short of his sectional time (1:55.19) and finished in 14th place.   For the second year in a row, Niles West’s 4x100 relay and 4x200 earned all-state honors. Although they did not repeat as champions, the 4x100 relay placed second (42.03) and the 4x200 was eighth…
