Skokie Woman Charged in Crash That Killed Boy

Hanin Goma has been charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence for the accident that killed an 8-year-old boy Monday.

  A 23-year-old Skokie woman has been charged in the crash that killed an 8-year-old boy Monday, according to a police statement released Wednesday. Hanin Goma, of Skokie, has been charged with one count felony aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death, and one count misdemeanor driving under the influence. Goma was also cited for failing to yield at a stop sign and failing to provide proof of insurance. Child Killed After Being Hit By Vehicle

A young child was killed after being struck by a vehicle near John Middleton Elementary School in Skokie Monday.

Updated 8:06 p.m. ~ A young child was killed after being struck by a vehicle near John Middleton Elementary School in Skokie about 4:24 p.m. Monday.  Skokie police were still on scene at 7:30 p.m. investigating the aftermath of the incident that happened near Main Street and St. Louis Avenue, about 20 or 30 yards from John Middleton Elementary School. The preliminary investigation suggests that a van traveling southbound on St. Louis Avenue attempting to turn eastbound on Main Street struck a sedan traveling eastbound on Main Street, police said.  After striking the sedan the driver lost control and struck a juvenile pedestrian on the northeast corner of Main Street and St. Louis Avenue.  The car continued moving until it struck another …
