Des Plaines Man Sentenced for Murdering Wife

Heriberto Ramirez, of unincorporated Des Plaines, was sentenced to 45 years in prison for murdering his wife on Valentine’s Day, 2011, the Daily Herald reported.

Sex Offender Arrested for Trespassing in Children’s Play Area

A Des Plaines man was arrested for trespassing and failing to update his address with police after witnesses reported him staring at a child in a restaurant in Elk Grove Village, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office stated.

A Des Plaines man was arrested for trespassing in the children’s play area at a restaurant in Elk Grove Village on Dec. 22, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office stated on Dec. 28. Witnesses said Joseph O’Brien, 36, of Maine Township, was staring at an 11-year-old girl when he was told to leave, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators found he was a registered sex offender, and, instead of residing at his address in Maine Township, O’Brien was staying at a motel near the restaurant. O’Brien was charged with failing to update his address to police and with criminal trespassing. The manager of the restaurant, in the 1900 block of E. Police: ‘Elmer Fudd Bandit’ Arrested

Law enforcement reported they believe a man they arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Kentucky is the same man who robbed several other Chicago-area banks in October.

Law enforcement reported they believe they arrested a man is responsible for five armed bank robberies, and an attempted armed bank robbery in Des Plaines, in Kentucky. Todd Berkley, 39, dubbed the “Elmer Fudd Bandit” by the FBI due to the flannel shirts and caps seen on a male suspect in surveillance video, was arrested at an apartment building by Kentucky State Police and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 2, the Grayson County News Gazette reported. Reported ‘Inappropriate Conduct’ of Maine West Soccer Players, Coaches, Investigated by Police, DCFS

Several students face disciplinary action and will not be allowed to play, pending the outcome of the investigation, according to a statement by Maine Township High School District 207.

Reports of inappropriate conduct by several players on Maine West High School’s boys’ soccer team are being investigated by the high school, school district, Des Plaines Police Department and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, according to a statement released by Maine Township High School District 207. The Maine West soccer players who face disciplinary action will not be allowed to play, pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the school district’s statement. Remains of Man Thought to Be Gacy Victim Found in Utah

Though Daniel Raymond Noe fit the profile of other Gacy victims, he was not one, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Another missing person’s case has been solved as a result of efforts by law enforcement related to the John Wayne Gacy case, Cook County police announced on Thursday. The remains of an Illinois man once believed to be a possible victim of Gacy were discovered by hikers on a mountainside in Utah, solving a missing person case more than 30 years after the man disappeared. No signs of foul play were found, police stated. Daniel Raymond Noe, a surveyor and factory worker from Peoria, was 21 years old in 1977 when he moved to Bellingham, Washington for work, according to police. Noe called his father on Sept. 30, 1978, and told him he wanted to complete his college degree at Northwestern University in Evanston, and planned to hitchhike back to …

Man Who Allegedly Stole Two Cars and Left on Tracks to Make Second Court Appearance

Vehicles were hit by Metra trains at the same intersection twice in a week.

The second court date for a man who allegedly left two cars on Des Plaines train tracks last year is Feb. 29 at Skokie courthouse, Journal and Topics Newspapers reported. It will be a status hearing. Something definately does not make sense here. I live right by him and leave my car unlocked with my GPS in it all the time. He's a great person that always looks out for other people. Unfortunately, Niles PD has a reputation to lie, write false police reports, break into homes without search warrants, and pull cars over without probable cause all because they believe they can get away with it.   more ›
