Park Ridge Woman Dies After Fatal Crash

A 51-year-old Park Ridge woman who was walking across the street died after a fatal accident in Park Ridge, not far from Niles, on Wednesday.

  Police and fire departments from both Park Ridge and Des Plaines responded to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Oakton Street and Busse Highway in Park Ridge on Wednesday around 8:23 p.m. When they arrived, they found a woman lying in the roadway near the northeast corner of Oakton Street and Busse Highway. According to police, Suzanne Palincsar, 51, of Park Ridge, died as a result of the accident. She was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The driver who struck the pedestrian did not flee, and stopped near the scene of the accident, police said. The Park Ridge Police Department Major Crash Unit is currently conducting an investigation and no further information is …

Des Plaines Man Struck, Killed by Truck

Jose Resugio Meza-Horatio, 52, of Des Plaines was killed Friday night after being hit by a truck.

A Des Plaines man was struck and killed by a truck in Elk Grove Village, the Chicago Tribune reported. Jose Resugio Meza-Horatio, 52, was hit by a tanker truck along Elmhurst Road near Landmeier Road at about 9:30 p.m. Friday night, the newspaper reported.

UPDATE: Holocaust Survivor Killed In Crash

Leon Goldberg, the 84-year-old man who was killed after being struck by a vehicle outside Niles North High School, was a Holocaust survivor. His friend said he would often speak to students about the atrocities he experienced.

  Leon Goldberg, the 84-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle outside Niles North High School on Tuesday, was also a Holocaust survivor, according to close friend Sharon Perlman. Perlman said Goldberg was placed in a number of concentration camps during WW II. He was also recently honored at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie. "He would often speak to students and educate them about the atrocities he experienced," Perlman said. "I knew Mr. Goldberg for nearly 40 years." Why Delay In Releasing Name of Driver Who Killed 5-Year-Old?

The Highland Park 18-year-old who drove into a family, killing a 5-year-old girl, was cited with driving under the influence shortly after the crash on Monday. Why wasn't her name disclosed to the public until Wednesday evening?

  The 18-year-old Highland Park resident who drove her car into a mother and three children, killing 5-year-old Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento, was cited with a DUI shortly after the crash on Monday, two days before her name was released, according to the Lake County States' Attorney's office. The driver's identity was not revealed on Monday because charges had not been filed yet, according to a news release sent out Monday afternoon by the Highland Park Police Department. Charges Filed in Crash That Killed 5-Year-Old

Driver cited for DUI while law enforcement officials and Lake County State’s Attorney continue investigation.

The driver in the Highland Park crash Monday in the 700 block of Central Avenue which left Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento, 5, of Highland Park, dead was charged today with driving under the influence “of an intoxicating compound or combination of intoxicating compounds,” according to a news release from Highland Park City Manager David Knapp. Carly Rousso, 18, of Highland Park was charged based on the evidence obtained and analyzed so far with any additional counts based on a further investigation, according to the release. Evanston Man Struck, Killed By Auto While Crossing The Street

A 63-year-old man was hit by a car Saturday evening as he was crossing Crawford Street at Grant Avenue. He was taken to the hospital and died Sunday morning, police said.

A 63-year-old Evanston man was struck by a car in northwest Evanston Saturday evening and died from his injuries the following morning, according to police. The man was crossing Crawford Street at Grant Avenue at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, when he was hit by a car, police said in a press release. Skokie police and fire responded to the scene, where paramedics transported the man to NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston. He arrived in critical condition and died at 8:07 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, according to police. A car struck a family on Central Avenue on Labor Day afternoon, killing a 5-year-old Highland Park resident and injuring her mother and two brothers in what Mayor Nancy Rotering is calling 'a parent's worst nightmare.'

A 5-year-old was killed when a vehicle drove onto a sidewalk as she was walking with her mother and two brothers on Central Avenue in Highland Park on Monday afternoon. The girl was with her 25-year-old mother and her 4-year-old and 2-year-old brothers, all of whom were also injured when a car jumped the curb on the north side of the 700 block of Central Avenue and plowed into them, according to a news release issued by the Highland Park Police Department. Five-year-old Jaclyn Santos-Sacramento was taken to Evanston Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. She lived in the 900 block of Deerfield Road, according to Highland Park News.
