Morton Grove Bakery Owner Frank Silvio Passed Away Monday

He lived in the area, and many family members live in Niles. Silvio leaves a wife and two young children.

Frank Silvio, co-owner of Maier's Bakery in Morton Grove, passed away Monday, according to friends who knew him from his active participation in the Morton Grove Farmers' Market.

Some of those friends had worked with Karen Amato of the Dairy Queen, on Dempster in Niles, to organize a June 29 fundraiser to help pay Silvio's medical bills and for his children's future education. It was well-attended, with a line of customers reaching out the door at points.

Visitation for Frank Silvio will be Wednesday, July 17 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Park Ridge.

A funeral Mass will be said Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church in Niles.
