Bill Terpinas Sr. Dies After Collapsing At Niles Parade

He had served on the Niles Park District Board, the Niles Community Relations Commission and the Fire and Police Pension Board.

Niles Park District Commissioner Bill Terpinas Sr. died Thursday after collapsing in his golf cart just after the Niles Fourth of July parade stepped off, the Niles Herald-Spectator reported. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

The park district commissioners drive golf carts in the parade, and are usually among the first units to step off.

Terpinas had given a lifetime of service to the village of Niles after moving here in 1957. He served 30 years on the Niles police force, working his way up to deputy chief, then served on the Niles Fire and Police Pension Board, the Niles Community Relations Commission and the Niles Park District Board.

Terpinas participated actively in the last Niles Park District meeting on June 18.

Patch will provide information on arrangements as it becomes available.
