Police Blotter: Theft, Drugs, Deceptive Practices

Recent mischief in Morton Grove.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara. All information comes directly from police reports.

June 23

Deceptive practice: A 58-year-old Park Ridge man was arrested for using expired checks to purchase gold coins at a total cost of $1,300. His court date is scheduled for July 6.

Suspended driver's license: A 25-year-old man was stopped at Dempster Street and Ferris Avenue for traffic violations. Police found he was also driving with a suspended license. His court date will be July 25.

Suspended driver's license: A 25-year-old Evanston man was found to be driving with a suspended license when police pulled him over for violating traffic rules at Dempster Street and Lockwood Ave. His court date is July 28.

Suspended driver's license: Police found that a 25-year-old Vernon Hills man was driving with a suspended license when they pulled him over for traffic violations in the 6900 block of Dempster Street. His court date will be Aug. 8.

June 27

Possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended driver's license: Police found a glass pipe in a 19-year-old Winthrop Harbor man's car when they stopped him for traffic violations in the 5600 block of Dempster Street. He also was driving with a suspended license. His court date is scheduled for July 25.

June 29

Theft, possession of drug paraphernalia: A 25-year-old Niles was arrested when he tried to make fraudulent returns at the Eddie Bauer store (7232 Dempster St.) for $1,253. Police also found hypodermic needles in his possession. He's slated to appear in court on Aug. 11.

Retail theft: A 63-year-old Chicago man left Menards (6301 Oakton St.) without paying for an angle grinder, two faucets and two bags of potting soil. His court date is Aug. 15.
